What Role Does Rebalancing Play In Portfolio Management?

Scott Puritz, Managing Director of Rebalance, explains the essential role that rebalancing plays in portfolio management.

Scott Puritz: A client’s investment mix is a really important consideration. It’s the basic building blocks for a retirement portfolio. We spend a lot of time with clients upfront getting to know them, getting to know their demands, and their family balance sheet to make sure that we put in place the absolute optimal, investment mix for clients.

Once it’s in place, we track the performance of our client’s portfolio over time and naturally various elements such as stocks and bonds, will go up and down based on what happens in the marketplace. We then apply systematic rebalancing to make sure that this mix stays on plan and does its job of balancing risk and reward.
